Ebenezer Gospel Church

(formerly New Covenant Holiness Church)

Mother Maggie Vanna had a vision of a church in the mid-fifties and with a persistent will against all odds her vision became a reality with the founding of (The Lord’s Church) New Covenant Church around 1958 as a storefront in a field in the Buckland Community. With a handful of members made up of her sister, Aunt Julia (Boyd) Knight, and their children along with a few other neighbors, regular church services began.

Her vision was not complete until the church moved a few miles away and a new church was built in 1961 and was named The New Covenant Holiness Church.

The church struggled; but the members remained unmovable and in 1971, Elder James Sanders and Evangelist Audrey Sanders came from Amityville Gospel Tabernacle in New York and worked with New Covenant Holiness Church as acting Pastors until 1974.

They later established Ebenezer Gospel Church across the street and the two Churches worked together and became known as the New Covenant and Ebenezer Gospel Church. Then in 1978, the Sanders family move to Orange, Texas.

Elder Glenn Williams came in 1981 and served until his death in 1993. During this time, the church was reorganized and renamed The Ebenezer Gospel Church.

In 1997, the current Pastor led the church in expanding and adding a large multi-purpose room, and in 2006, elder Sanders returned and resumed working in the church.

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its author; salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and opinions should be tried.
